	Not all Printers work on all platforms. Choose the platform (OS) that you will need the printer to work under. Some printers will be cross platform meaning that it will work with several platform types (e.g. PC and Mac).


	The technologies used in printing include Inkjet, Laser, Dot Matrix and Thermal. InkJets are the most popular for home use and are generally less expensive. Laser is faster and renders a higher image quality. Dot Matrix and Thermal are usually designed for specific business and small business uses.


	Some printers print in color as well as black and white, while others only print in black and white.
